I haven't really had a lot to say on the PGCE front lately - I guess that's the sumemr holidays for you! I (hopefully) have my KS3 day sorted for next Friday, although I'm getting a little worried it may not matierialise (various complicated reasons). I also need to get finishing my Pre-Course Observation report - i did my KS1 bit way back in June, and still haven't written it all up! I'm not sure whether it's the type of thing that's going to be assessed (I have a feeling that it isn't) so I think I may try to suppress my perfectionist instincts and cut it down from the 50 page dissertation it's thretening to be (inside my head, anyway).
I'm looking forward to getting started, and am feeling happy that I'm hardly feeling scared/nervous about it at all. In fact, I can't wait to meet loads of people and just 'get on with it'. Most of my time up til Christmas will be spent in Uni, with most of the time from January-June in school, a structure which I think is slightly different to most other PGCE courses. I guess it's a good thing that we'll get a solic theoretical grounding before heading into the classroom to really learn how to do it.
It became clear to me yesterday that teaching really is the perfect career for me. I'm one of those people who always has an urge to keep things that are being thrown out 'just in case I could use them for something'. Well, yesterday Ben was having a 'sock clear out'... and I ended up stowing away a bag full of his old socks 'just in case I could use them in school'!
Should I be worried?!
