Last week (my KS2 'Intro Placement') went pretty well, although I really didn't do too much in the way of observing 'proper lessons', it being the last week of term. Luckily I was involved in loads of lessons at other schools over the past few months, so I'm sure I'll find something to write about in my report.

Tomorrow I start work at a local (big!) playscheme which should be interesting... especially as I'm going to be outside the whole time and it's forecast to rain for a significant proportion of next week! Ah well, hoepfully I'll get to do a bit of saling/rock climbing/abseiling with the kids.

On the PGCE front... I've now spent nigh on £200 on course books - something completely new for me. In my year of Physics I bought one book (which I never used) and in my 3 years studying music I bought one book (which I never used)... so I'm hoping this year will be a little different! And hopefully I'll be able to sell them on ebay at the end of the course to pay for my wedding dress....!!

it's been absolutely ages since I updated this part of my weblog. But safe to say, the last month and a bit have been fantastic. I spent 8 days working with Year 1 at an infant school in hte rolling countryside (well, almost) and then almost 4 weeks working as the only KS2 teaching assistant at a prep school not too far from here. I also ran the after school club (single handedly!) there, and had an amazing time. The teachers were so so welcoming - infinitely more than any other school I've been to. I really felt like a proper member of staff, and the children were great. On my last day, last Friday, I was presented with a bottle of champagne in the 'leaving teachers reception' - it absolutely bowled me over! I really really enjoyed my time there, and I'm missing everyone a lot.

Today I did the first day of my KS2 Pre-PGCE placement, at the school I used to volunteer in when I worked at the University. I was in a Year 4 class, and spent most of the day baking cookies!

However, the 'highlight' of the day was being asked by someone in the staffroom - "what school are you at?" They thought I was a year 10 work experience person!! Do I really look 14?! Slightly worrying, as I turn 24 in 3 week's time....!
