Quote of the week:

Year 5 drama lesson.... 3 of the little darlings in my class were acting out their own version of the ancient Greek myth following Perseus' 'younger years'...

Narrator: "And one day the baby Perseus was in his room playing with his toy aeroplane...."

Still feeling the Post-WSS blues, but I'm slowing 'getting over it', and adjusting to life without rehearsals/performances every day. My evenings do feel a bit empty, but I'm sure I'll get used to it! We have another party on Friday, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Ben's back at work today, but i haven't been all on my lonesome as my wonderful friend came over to visit with her daughter - was great to do some proper catching up. As always, I wished she could have stayed longer, as we can talk for England! She told me that another of our friends has left teaching, which is a little scary - we only qualified 9 months ago. The government really need to deal with the fact that so many good teachers are leaving/considering leaving the profession. It's just wrong.

West Side Story went so well! I've had the time of my life performing my part over the last week, and have loved the chance to really get my teeth into some juicy acting. I was playing 'Anybodys' - the girl who wants to be part of the Jet gang - it it's a great part. I barely had time to change my costume or get a drink as I was on stage regularly throughout the show... and I loved it!

It's over 6 years since I did a musical, but I've really re-caught the bug.

I loved doing the really dramatic scenes - end of act 1 (when Tony has killed Bernardo and Anybodys runs on amidst sirens and whistles to get him away from the police) and end of act 2 (when Tony believes Maria is dead, and Anybodys tries to persuade him to run away) were soooo cool. The chap playing Tony (Mark) was really really good, and it was great to act with someone who gave the scene absolutely everything.

We had a great after-show party yesterday, and didn't get home until 5.30am! Luckily the party was in a house 14 doors down so we didn't have far to travel.

I've met some really great people through the show, and I'm already missing them - had a big case of 'After Show Blues' today, and have just been wandering around the house aimlessly, singing WSS songs, and re-watching some scenes in my head.

Every show sold out (very unusual for amateur stuff) and every night went really well... although it got better and better through the week, and Saturday night was perfect.

Never mind teaching, 14-year-old Sarah is back and she wants to act! ;)

Poor old icklesarah.co.uk has been neglected a bit recently!

I've been super-busy with school and West Side Story rehearsals... and the show opens tonight! We had our dressed rehearsal last night, which went pretty well, and the tickets have almost sold out - for 6 performances! I'm looking forward to getting on stage tonight... dressed as a teenage tomboy! I've had a lot of fun doing this... especially over the last week, as Ben has been drafted in as an 'extra Shark' when someone dropped out. I never knew my husband was such a good dancer!!
