Today is the last day of the summer term for Undergraduates. One year ago yesterday I got my degree results, which is a crazy thought. Ben gets his in a week, and I'm probably going to be more nervous than he is!

We're off down to Porton tonight, and then to Cornwall early in the morning with Ben's parents - it'll be the furthest South i've ever been in England - hope the weather's good!

The focus on my new camera broke the other day, so I had to send it back to Amazon.co.uk - and I got the replacement in 2 working days! Very impressive. So, I have my lovely sexy little camera back to take down to Cornwall with us - yay!

We definitely have the flat (subject to signing the contract, of course) and in a month we'll be there! It's so exciting, and a little scary. I really can't wait though - it's going to be a big adventure for both of us... :)

In exactly one month I finish my year (and three weeks) as a Sabbatical Officer at the University of Surrey Students' Union. It's almost a year since this crazy journey began, and I'm actually getting a bit sad at the idea of it ending. That's not to say I'm not looking forward to moving to Southampton, cos I really really am; I'm just going to really miss some of the people here!

Claire and I just worked out that we have only 7 1/2 days left before the new sabbatical team start (we have 3 weeks of handover) which is a scary thought. We're going to be become "the old team" then be wiped from the slate for a new start on June 28th.

Still, Ben and I are off to our lovely little flat in Southampton, and I couldn't be more excited - I even dreamt about it last night! If all the final stuff goes to plan, we should be getting the keys in exactly 3 weeks.... wow.... our own place.... Amazing.

Such a feeling's coming over me
There is wonder in most every thing I see
Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes
And I won't be surprised if it's a dream

Everything I want the world to be
Is now coming true especially for me
And the reason is clear, it's because you are here
You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen

I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love's put me at the top of the world

Something in the wind has learned my name
And it's telling me that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasing sense of happiness for me

There is only one wish on my mind
When this day is through I hope that I will find
That tomorrow will be just the same for you and me
All I need will be mine if you are here

(a song by the carpenters that ben was just singing/humming to me!)

ugh, just had a call from the Estate Agents and apparently they have issues with my new job having a year long probationary period! they think it means Soton can tell me where to go at any time during the first year, when it actually means that my contract is turned into a permanent one after a year (basically giving the Uni a get out clause).

I'm hoping soooo much that things work out. We really really want the flat, are definitely going to pay our rent and be good tenants.... bradford and bingley southampton, if you're listening - please can we have our flat!!

Ben and I went down to Southampton on Saturday and looked round a gorgeous little flat close to the station. It was quite ickle but nice and modern and in a perfect location.... so we paid our application fees, and subject to credit check and landlord oking, we should have a flat in a month!! I really really hope it works out, cos it was just perfect. :) *fingers crossed*

I've now finished the magazine, and despite having to work more than full time over the weekend (Sunday's session finished at 1am!) I really enjoyed doing it. Maybe it was because I know I don't have to do 20 more issues of it in 6 months, or maybe it's because it was just something different... but whatever the reason I had loads of fun with the design side. I think it's the best publication that I've produced (although i'll reserve judgement until I see the real thing!) so I'm really looking forward to it being delivered.

A massive thankyou to everyone involved, especially Ben, who helped loads with the planning, and stayed up laying up until 1am on the morning of his last exam, and came straight back to the Media Centre to finish it off when he'd finished his exam... and with it his degree!

So, Ben's all finished now. I'm taking him out for a meal tonight, to Zizi's in town, which should be nice. Now we've really got to get working on finding us a flat and and him a job. It'a all really exciting and I can't wait for the future... :)

Over a week since I wrote last!? This week has shot by! It has probably been one of the busiest weeks I've had this year, simply because there have been loads of medium things that have needed to be done, as opposed to a few big ones, so it's all been.... hectic!

I'm in the middle of laying up the magazine at the moment, which is going to be damn sexy (full colour!!) as long as everyone gets their articles in on time (ie very very soon - it has to be with the printers by Monday). There's a lot of pressure on me, but I am enjoying the layup side, so hopefully if people can get their articles in there I won't be stressed to a barefacts standard. I really really love designing, and hopefully once I've settled into my new job I might be able to start doing some freelance design work - exciting stuff! :)

Ben has had 3 out of his 4 exams, and they've gone really well. I am so so proud of him - he's done loads of work over easter. In fact, I'm buzzing with pride. :) We're looking for flats in Southampton at the mo, which is exciting... can't wait until we have somewhere. It's going to be soooo exciting moving somewhere together. Not long now! :)
