There are only 5 days left of this so called holiday. It's crazy. I don't like time passing this fast. There is so much I want to do in the next 5 weeks, so many people I want to spend time with, so many things that need to be sorted out. I can't believe I've been here at Surrey for almost 4 years. It has, without a doubt been the most amazing time of my life. Never mind school being the best days of your life, University has beaten it a million times over.
My mum and sister are coming down to visit tomorrow, which should be pretty cool. Just getting out of Guildford for a bit will be nice. It's getting a bit claustrophobic here at the moment - I am getting so worried about some things, and people, that i really do need a break. I haven't been able to get home at all this Easter, so it'll be good to see them, even thought it's only half my family!
Tonight was the third evening in a row I've spent with Chris et al - they're a really great bunch of people, and have helped take my mind off a lot of things. Huge thanks to Chris, Phil Brown (on Gu2...), Mel (my fellow Sanderstead ex-resident!), Simon et al - you've been fantastic friends over the past few days. I's so glad you're all going to be here next year. :D

At least, I am finally getting something half decent done for my composition postfolio. I've spent all afternoon working more on my minimalist electroacoustic piece (right click and save) and it's turned out rather oddly, but kinda groovily at the same time. I've reversed all the tracks individually, and mixed the reversed ones in with the other original ones - a bit odd, and hard to explain, but if you've got a spare couple of minutes have a listen and see what you think. For some reason, even though it's 6 minutes long, the file is only 2.7MB - nice!
I wish I could do an entire portfolio of electroacoustic pieces - it's by far my favourite compositional medium, and the reason I chose to do composition this year. But, sadly, I've almost finished my 2 pieces using my keyboard/synth, and I'm going to have to get some 'real' composing done now! ;) Ah well, I'm on the way, and might even have it all finished by 12 days time!
My tummy's making noises... maybe I'll venture into the kitchen and cook some pasta.... mmm, fooooood.....

Emma - this is for you! (just right click and save target as) :)
There, I said I'd work out how to do it somehow!
I've also uploaded the start of my minimalist electroacoustic composition - I'm actually quite proud of it. Have a listen and let me know what you think - same old save target-ing applies. :D

This Easter really does take the prize for being the worst 'holiday' in 4 years at University. Everyone is horribly bogged down with work, which is making for a very stressed bunch of people left on campus. It's such a pity - our last holiday together and we're all unable to enjoy it.
The weather outside is gorgeous, and I'm stuck inside trying in vain to compose something good enough to submit as part of my composition portfolio. People say 'it'll be over soon', but that's part of the problem - I don't want it to be over. Because soon after that, everyone's leaving.... :(

Adam hired his graduation gown online yesterday (£33 for one day - phew!) and it made us laugh to see that: "if you are unable to attend your ceremony (i.e. if you faaaail!) we will refund your money in full"!
I guess it's ok for me to put my order in now then...! :)

In yet another unconscious effort to avoid passing my degree, i've been reliving a few happy election memories with Chops this evening. We've been talking online for the last couple of hours, and have listened to the election results (right click and save, to hear - it really is worth it) once again. They never fail to bring a smile to my face, even at the worst of times.
Elections week, well, 2 weeks, right from February 22nd up until the middle of the night on March 7th/8th were probably the best days of my 4 year long University life. I had the most amazing group of people backing me; I was truly humbled by the support I received that week. It may be a cliche, but I truly could not have done it without you guys, in particular my most amazing campaign manager, Adam. You're a star.
I've not been in the best frame of mind recently, due to various reasons including the lack of motivation and inspiration to get working on my degree composition portfolio. All the final years here, on all courses, are getting so insanely stressed about work that it's difficult to carry on normal life. I've never experienced this before. It's like we're in some odd parallel universe, where you don't speak to close friends for days, forget to eat, rarely leave your room and everything is just... slightly different.
Well, if we can all get through these next few weeks, hopefully things can return to their happy old selves soon.

I'm off up to Derby in a few minutes to visit my Granny, and I really can't wait. I haven't left Guildford since December and really need to get away from everything for a while - we all need a break sometimes.
Spent yesterday evening at Sam's with him, John, Neil, Jo, and later Martin and Amanda, watching the film 'Thee Kings' - quite topical really. It was a bit like a New Year's Party reunion, but without the alcohol! :)
Anyhow, i'm off - i'll be back early next week. Take care all, and have fun without me!

Last night I went out with Sam, Neil, John, Taj, Anthea and Jo for Sam's 22nd birthday. We went to RSVP for £1 vodka and mixer, then on to good old reliably cheap Weatherspoons. It was a great night, and it was great to spend time with some people I haven't seen so much of recently. I'm very lucky to have several really close friendship groups - last night it was good to get away from things and spend time with other people.
The last couple of days have really illustrated the complicated situations which can come about through living in such close proximity to all your friends. I am very glad it's the holiday, although most of my friends are here for the majority of the time, so we're all not really getting much of a break.
I'm going up to Derby on Thursday to stay with my Granny for a few days, which should be good fun. I love spending time with her, and I can't wait to spend a few days out of Guildford, before getting down to some hardcore work, and attempting to pass this degree thing.
