West Side Story went so well! I've had the time of my life performing my part over the last week, and have loved the chance to really get my teeth into some juicy acting. I was playing 'Anybodys' - the girl who wants to be part of the Jet gang - it it's a great part. I barely had time to change my costume or get a drink as I was on stage regularly throughout the show... and I loved it!

It's over 6 years since I did a musical, but I've really re-caught the bug.

I loved doing the really dramatic scenes - end of act 1 (when Tony has killed Bernardo and Anybodys runs on amidst sirens and whistles to get him away from the police) and end of act 2 (when Tony believes Maria is dead, and Anybodys tries to persuade him to run away) were soooo cool. The chap playing Tony (Mark) was really really good, and it was great to act with someone who gave the scene absolutely everything.

We had a great after-show party yesterday, and didn't get home until 5.30am! Luckily the party was in a house 14 doors down so we didn't have far to travel.

I've met some really great people through the show, and I'm already missing them - had a big case of 'After Show Blues' today, and have just been wandering around the house aimlessly, singing WSS songs, and re-watching some scenes in my head.

Every show sold out (very unusual for amateur stuff) and every night went really well... although it got better and better through the week, and Saturday night was perfect.

Never mind teaching, 14-year-old Sarah is back and she wants to act! ;)

I know EXACTLY what you mean!!!! There is nothing like being in a musical is there?!!! I felt like that about High Society last year, and I was only in the chorus! They're doing Fiddler on the Roof this year, and I would soooo love to do it if it weren't for that pesky PGCE!!!! (Already doing a concerto, 2 orchestras and flute quartet so a bit too much already!)
Well done, glad you have enjoyed it!!!! And fab it sold out!
